There are four main ways to be involved with the farm at this stage of the process.

Donations

One of the most important ways to be involved at this point is to make a donation.  Although we believe the farm will be self-sustaining after the first growing season, there are a great deal of start-up costs that need to be met to get this project off the ground.  We will be depending solely on the support of local businesses and residents to raise these funds.   We would like to thank you for your donation by giving back $5 for every $25 that you donate in the form of a coupon to be used at the Farmers’ Market’s Royal Oak Community Farm table in the summer.  Not only will you have the satisfaction of participating in the success of a project that benefits the entire community, but you will be able to try some of the produce that was grown within a mile of the market.

Marketing/Fundraising

Due to the high start-up costs for the farm, we will be increasing our fundraising efforts immediately.  We are in the process of organizing a community-wide benefit concert to be held at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market on April 17th.  If you have an interest in being involved in the fundraising committee, please click here to be placed on a distribution list.  Meetings are currently being held every other Wednesday at Bean & Leaf Cafe at 7pm.

Core Farming

We are looking for volunteers to help us plan and plant the flower garden on the south side of the property.  We will also need volunteers for the general upkeep of the flower garden and the farm once the growing season has begun.  Stay tuned for more information about seasonal opportunities.  If you would like to sign up as a farm volunteer, please click here.

Educational Programs

The Royal Oak Community Farm will be partnering with the MSU Extension 4H Club to provide a variety of educational programs.  If you have had experience in this area, or are interested in being involved with these programs, please click here.  More information will be available in May.
